What Participants Have Said

AH

Ahmad Hafiz

Senior Executive, KL

Financial Decision Frameworks

"I came in thinking the program would tell me what to do with my savings. It does not. What it actually does is help you slow down and think through a decision properly before acting. The decision journal was something I did not expect to find useful, but I still use it now, three months after completing the program."

"The term sheet analysis sessions were unlike anything I had done before. We worked through real documents and the educator explained what each clause actually means — not textbook definitions, but what it implies in practice. It took me a couple of sessions to fully find my footing, but by session four I felt noticeably more confident reading these materials on my own."

Year-Long Mentorship

"One year is a long commitment, and I will be honest — there were a few months where I got busy and did not engage as fully as I should have. What I appreciated was that the individual sessions gave me a space to catch up without judgment. The personal financial plan we built together is genuinely something I refer back to when making decisions."

Financial Decision Frameworks

"I had no finance background at all coming into this. The pace was manageable and the educator was patient when I needed things re-explained. The scenario analysis exercise in session three was probably the most useful thing I did — it helped me work through a property decision I had been putting off for months."

Derivatives & Structured Products

"I work in tech, not finance, but I have been curious about derivatives for years. This program explained things in a way that made sense without dumbing it down. The checklist for evaluating structured products has already helped me ask better questions when I have been presented with investment products. Not all five stars because session five was a bit rushed, but the overall value was clear."

Accountant, Kuala Lumpur

Year-Long Mentorship

"I am an accountant, so I was not coming in completely unfamiliar with financial concepts. What surprised me was how much I gained from the advanced sessions in the second half of the year — areas I had always glossed over in my professional work. The individual sessions were the real differentiator for me. Having space to ask questions specific to my situation was something I had not found anywhere else."

Participant Journeys

Detailed accounts of what participants brought to the programs and what they took from them.

CHALLENGE

A mid-career executive in Kuala Lumpur was regularly presented with structured investment products by bank relationship managers. She accepted or declined these based on how they were described in the meeting, without a reliable way to evaluate what she was actually being offered.

APPROACH

She enrolled in the Derivatives & Structured Products program. Over five sessions she worked through how structured products are constructed, what the key risk factors are, and how to read a term sheet critically. The annotated document work was directly applicable to the products she had been offered previously.

OUTCOME

After completing the program, she declined one product she would previously have accepted — and was able to explain clearly why to her relationship manager. She reported feeling considerably more confident in those conversations and less reliant on the bank's framing of the product's benefits.

CHALLENGE

A small business owner in the Klang Valley had accumulated savings over several years but consistently deferred significant financial decisions — property investment, business expansion, personal insurance review — due to uncertainty about how to evaluate the trade-offs involved.

APPROACH

He enrolled in both the Financial Decision Frameworks program and later joined the Year-Long Mentorship. The frameworks program gave him practical tools for evaluating his deferred decisions. The mentorship provided the sustained support needed to build a personal financial plan and work through the decisions one by one over twelve months.

OUTCOME

By the end of the mentorship year, he had made three major financial decisions that he had previously been putting off — each documented and analysed in his personal financial plan. He noted that the value was less in the specific decisions and more in having a structured way to approach them.

CHALLENGE

A recently promoted manager at a Malaysian corporation wanted to strengthen her financial knowledge to better contribute to financial discussions at work — budgeting reviews, capital allocation conversations — and to manage her own personal finances more deliberately.

APPROACH

She enrolled in the Year-Long Financial Mentorship, which allowed her to move through foundational and intermediate content in the first six months, then focus the second half of the year on areas specific to her professional context and personal financial situation.

OUTCOME

She reported being more confident and better-prepared in financial discussions at work within the first four months. By the end of the year, she had also completed a detailed review of her own financial position — including her EPF allocation, insurance coverage, and medium-term savings approach — and had a clear basis for the decisions she made.
